Hi, everyone.
Aavaram poo in Tamil or taravar in Hindi is commonly known as tanner’s cassia in English. It belongs to legume family with bright yellow flowers and buds. It has so many medicinal values than we could imagine. It is also known as common man’s Thanga pashpam. It is grows extensively in India in dry areas, along road sides, near rivers. Diabetic people can consume this flower instead of tea. Continued use of this flower gives clearer complexion to our skin. This flower when combined with other ingredients can do wonders to our skin.
During my college, I had to stay in hostel and use common bathroom and because of that I got terrible skin infection. My skin is very sensitive and I have excessive sweaing issue too. I had seen many doctors, took different kinds of medicines, but nothing worked for me. At that time my mom made me a body scrub using this aavaram flower, rice and kasthuri manjal. Just using it for two days all the rashes disappeared and I have never suffered from that fungal infection again. I’m not exaggerating here, but the infection started healing in just two days. Since then I use it regularly as a body scrub. This is how my mom made me that wonderful scrub.
Things you’ll need
· Tanner’s cassia – 2 handful
· Kasthuri manjal powder – 3 or 4 tsp.
· Gram flour/Chickpeas flour/Besan or raw rice – 1 small cup
You can use rose petals also if you like. Dry the cassia petals and rose petals under shade till they are crisp. If you are using raw rice, soak them in water for ten minutes, drain them and dry them completely under shade. Once they are dry, add the dried cassia and rose petals, kasthuri manjal, dried raw rice and give it a pulse in mixer grinder until they are powdered.
The granules can give effective scrubbing and exfoliation. I prefer raw rice because my skin is allergic to gram flour (weird, I know). If you want to use gram flour instead of raw rice, add it after powdering cassia, rose and turmeric. Store it in an air tight container. This can be used as body scrub. You can also use it as a face pack by adding a little milk or rose water to it.
Cassia:
· It has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
· Continuous usage improves complexion.
· Gives natural shine to the skin.
· Can be used instead of soaps in winters.
Kasthuri manjal:
· It also has anti-bacterial properties.
· It also improves the complexion of the skin and prevents the growth of facial hairs.
Hope you all like it. Please do give your valuable comments.
